Project Description

Westport, formally known as Murdock Village, is a mixed-use planned community, in a public-private partnership with Charlotte County. The development encompasses 452 acres between US 41 and El Jobean, west of the Flamingo Waterway, which includes 75 acres for public infrastructure improvements that will be conveyed to Charlotte County, leaving 377 acres available for development. The community is programmed for a variety of market-priced homes: single-family detached homes, townhomes, villas, condos, and rental apartments. In addition to 2,400 residential units located within picturesque neighborhoods surrounding lakes and connecting to trails and amenities, the mixed-use community plan includes 200,000 square feet of village-style retail and commercial uses, and a 150-key hotel.

The project makes the North Charlotte Regional Park its centerpiece, with ample connectivity via five miles of multimodal paths linking the residential neighborhoods to the park as well as to the commercial and retail nodes, reducing the need for automobiles within the community. Additional amenities for residents include community clubhouses, swimming pool, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and other related activities to create a sense of place for the community. The plan envisions a public kayak launch, as well.
